When more people can participate in voting safely, confidently, and without barriers, communities are stronger, democracy is healthier, and climate progress is possible. Protect the freedom to vote, strengthen our democracy, and defend the climate future our communities need.

Why Voting Access Matters More Than Ever

The rules around voting are changing, and in too many places making it harder for people to participate. Since 2020, at least 30 states have enacted 110 restrictive voting laws, including 31 new restrictive laws passed in 2025 alone.

These barriers often hit hardest in communities that already face obstacles to participation, including communities of color, Tribal and Native communities, young voters, people with disabilities, low-income communities, immigrant families, LGBTQIA+ people, and people experiencing housing instability. These are the same communities who are often hit first and worst by climate impacts. Heightened immigration enforcement near homes, schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods has also created fear and uncertainty that can make civic participation feel even harder or riskier.

But communities are not powerless. When people know their rights, understand their options, and share trusted information, they make participation stronger, safer, and more accessible for everyone, and move us closer to the climate future we all need.
